Council Honors Clayton Brewer

Brewer stepped down from the County Legislature at the end of 2009, completing a 30 year career in public service.

“Clayton is truly a people person, giving equal care and attention to everyone,” said former Fulton Common Council member Bob Weston, speaking on behalf of the council.



Fulton To Hire New Firefighter

The city will hire a new firefighter. There’s no vacancy yet, but the mandatory Fire Training Academy for new firefighters begins March 1 and only happens once a year.



Oswego Council Committee Paves Way For Energy-Savings

The committee approved seeking a grant to install solar panels at the Crisafulli Ice Rink to cut the operatioanl costs. And, they sent other potential money-saving resolutions to the full council for consideration as well.

However, a group of community leaders has been looking at the plan to see what’s been done, what needs to be started and what else can be done to improve the Port City.

Some of the names and faces may have changed, but for Fulton’s Common Council, the challenge remains the same. Three new members of the Council were sworn in on January 1. Mayor Ron Woodward praised the newcomers for their “courage to step forward in the current times.”



Weston Ends 16 Years On Fulton Common Council With Praise And Thanks

<p>Alderman Bob Weston at work in a recent Common Council meeting.</p>Fulton Common Council meetings are likely to be a little less positive from now on, now that Bob Weston’s 16 year career as an Alderman is over.  They’re also likely to be shorter.

Weston announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection as Alderman from the city’s third ward.  A quick special meeting on Tuesday was the last hurrah of a political career that he said began by accident.

Downtown Oswego Parking Policy Starts Jan. 1

The Common Council adopted the city’s new downtown parking policy at its meeting this week. The policy was created to be a long-term solution to the parking needs of downtown, Councilor Sue Sweet, parking committee chair, said.
