A Piece Of Oswego’s History To Be Restored To Its Rightful Place

A small segment of part of the Port City’s big history will return thanks to the efforts of the Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club.
At its meeting Monday night, the Physical Services Committee granted permission of the Rotarians to place a restored railroad watchman’s shanty in the Seaway Trail Gateway Interpretative Park, fronting on East First Street.

Billy Decker Wins Fulton 200 Presented By SUNY Canton On Last Lap Pass

Decker dominated the race till lap 161 when Jimmy Phelps blasted by Decker and seemed headed for victory lane. A late caution with a handful of laps left was Phelps undoing. On the final lap Decker was able to wrestle the lead back and be the first under the checkers. The win was worth $20,000 plus for Decker as he collected the halfway point $1,000 from Bicknell Racing Products plus lap money.

New Utility Assessments Exemplify Poor Public Policy

Beginning this summer, utility bills began to feature a new fee called the “Utility Tax Service Conservation Assessment.” This is now listed on all utility bills. Though a modest fee for most households, it is, nonetheless, another state fee and exists thanks to the budget that passed in the spring. I am urging for the repeal of this assessment to prevent more money from going to our already bloated state budget.

Cupid Gascon, M.D. Named as Oswego Hospital’s Medical Director of Emergency Services

In his new position, Dr. Gascon will oversee operation of the hospital’s emergency department. “My goal is to ensure that our emergency room patients receive not only excellent quality care, but that their overall experience exceeds their expectations,” Dr. Gascon said. “I plan to maintain a team of extremely competent clinicians in the emergency department who will meet the community’s needs and provide outstanding care.”

Second-generation standout Ryan Susice continued his season of firsts as he collected the biggest win of his budding career Sunday afternoon in the Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series ‘Gater Racing News/Motorsports Expo 30’ to close out the Sportsman portion of the 24th Annual Fulton 200 Weekend at Fulton Speedway.
