On Monday, the Oswego High School boys golf team took to the links in their first competition of the 2013 season. The nine hole Invitational, held at Drumlins East (front nine) showcases all nine teams making up the CNYCL, including last year’s sectional champs Cicero North Syracuse. Six of the eligible twelve varsity Oswego players qualified for this opening event.
State Senator Patty Ritchie announced she has secured a second round of special funding, bringing the total of aid she delivered to libraries in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties to more than $160,000.
Budweiser International Classic Weekend officially kicks off at Oswego Speedway on Thursday with the annual Classic Cruise-In and Party in the Pits and Oswego Kartway Classic. The Classic Weekend Cruise-In and Party in the Pits has become a tradition at the ‘Steel Palace,’ serving as the lid lifter to a tremendous weekend of racing featuring hundreds of classic cars and hot rods.
In this year’s enacted state budget, changes were made to the STAR program that requires Basic STAR recipients to re-register. It became clear that the state needed to make changes to the program after a Comptroller’s audit found some property owners were abusing the system. By requiring people to reapply, the state can weed out any duplicate applications and stop people from trying to double dip.
