Rabies Clinic Scheduled June 1 in West Monroe

The Oswego County Health Department will hold its next rabies clinic June 1, at the West Monroe Town highway Garage, 46 County Route 11, West Monroe. “The rabies virus continues to be active across Oswego County. We’ve already had three animals test positive for rabies this year, in the towns of Albion, Minetto and Scriba,” said Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Public Health Director.

In November of 2009, Helen Buchel and her daughter, Brittany Passalacqua, a 12-year-old girl, were brutally murdered in Geneva, NY. Helen and Brittany were killed by John Edward Brown, a violent felon whose criminal history included a conviction for assaulting his infant daughter in 2003. According to Helen’s mother, Dale Driscoll, Helen was unaware of Brown’s violent past when she became involved with him.

Fulton Councilman Among 36 Inducted to NYS Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame

State Senator Patty Ritchie honored 36 local veterans from the central and northern NY area at the annual “Veterans’ Hall of Fame” ceremony held this year at the Edick-Hamlink VFW Post 369 in Mexico on Thursday (May 12.) Of the 36 local heroes, Fulton Common Councilman representing the Sixth Ward, Lawrence Macner was one of many nominations ultimately chosen to receive the distinction of being inducted to the NYS Senate “Veterans Hall of Fame.” Macner was in good company alongside 12 other Oswego County nominees including Thomas R. Bradway, Clark B. Francis, Father Moritz Fuchs, Donald Mark Grant Sr., Edward F. Kelley Jr., Richard J. Kemmis, Theodore LeClair, Frank L. Manchester, Nicholas Wilson Mansfield, Harold “Hap” Petrie, Dr. Allen Rosenberg and Duane R. Smith.
