Oswego AmeriCorps recently welcomed a new class of AmeriCorps members who pledged to “Get Things Done” for Oswego County. They joined the one million men and women who have taken the same pledge since AmeriCorps’ inception in 1994.
The Oswego Chapter of Zonta recently welcomed Oswego County Opportunities Services to Aid Families Community Response Coordinator Stacie France as its guest speaker.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Ed Garrow pinned and welcomed back Gregg Nichols to the club. Gregg was a charter member of Sunrise Rotary.
Kathy Fenlon, a member of the Shineman Foundation Board of Directors, presented United Way of Greater Oswego County Executive Director Patrick Dewine with a $1,000 discretionary grant. In keeping with United Way’s impact area of ending hunger, the money was used to benefit backpack programs in the Sandy Creek and APW school districts.

It’s not yet Halloween, but it’s starting to look a lot like Christmas. A troupe of volunteers is working to put the finishing touches on the 2016 Oswego Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Expo. The annual holiday celebration will kick off at 9 a.m. Nov. 26 and run until 10 p.m. Besides a visit from Santa, a myriad of holiday events will be held – including ice skating at a temporary rink in Civic Plaza.
The high winds overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning caused some minor damage around the Port City.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the next lecture of the 2016 season on October 30 at 1:30 pm at Bishop’s Commons at 4 Burkle St., Oswego. The event is free and open to the public. A program entitled “The Evolutionary Story of Wildwood: a Grand Estate, Orphanage, High School & More” will be presented by historical society president, Justin White.
Tucker is everything you expect from a young happy boy. He’s not a kitten anymore. He spends about 80% of his day lounging on his bed watching the world. But when he is up and playing he’s great with other cats, dogs and children. He especially likes morning and evening cuddles. In short, he’s a well-rounded perfect cat and totally handsome to boot.
