The Girls’ JV Volleyball team moved to 2-0 for the season after defeating both Westhill and F-M 3 sets to zero. Also, Oswego had a good showing in the Penfield Volleyball tournament.

Oswego County Historical Society to Host Walking Tour of Franklin Square Historic District in Oswego
The Oswego County Historical Society will host a history walking tour of the Franklin Square Historic District in Oswego on September 17 at 1:30 p.m. Franklin Square, often called by locals as West Park, is the official name of the park located in the center of the west side of the city bordered between West Cayuga and Seneca streets and West Third and Fifth streets.

“Stepping On,” a workshop designed to help participants improve their balance and avoid falls is now accepting registrations. “Stepping On” is an evidence-based program proven to reduce falls in older adults.
BBQ To Benefit Lady Bucs Softball Program
The Oswego High School Softball Club will host a chicken barbeque on September 17 from noon until sold out at Gibby’s Pub, West Second and Lake streets in Oswego. The menu includes chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, a roll, and dessert.

Vicki Mullen announced her candidacy for a seat on the Oswego Town Board. I will be on the Republican line this September 12 primary. I have been a resident of the town of Oswego for 45 years and have been very involved in our community.
Oswego County’s Smoking Cessation Program for Pregnant Women Presented at Tobacco Treatment Summit
The success of Oswego County’s “Smoke Free for My Baby and Me” program is receiving regional and state attention. The program was the subject of recent presentations in the health care field in Syracuse and Albany. Smoke Free for My Baby and Me is a community-supported, clinic-based tobacco cessation program that encourages pregnant women to quit smoking.

Samantha Whalen and Thomas Sheldon, direct support professionals with Oswego County Opportunities’ Developmentally Disabled Services, were recently recognized with longevity awards. They were cited for five years of loyal service to OCO and its consumers.
