The bill (S.2481/A.2994) was signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on July 25.
Bishop’s Commons resident Florence Filby decided it was time to take action after seeing an image on television of a mother wading through knee-deep waters clutching her two small children, after a devastating hurricane flooded her neighborhood. For the 103-year-old Filby, that scene and many others streaming to us from the storm-ravaged areas of the Caribbean, Texas and Florida over the course of the last few weeks made her want to help.
The Shineman Foundation awarded a grant to ARISE in Oswego County to purchase additional aluminum ramps to be used for members of the community in need. The aluminum ramp program allows ARISE to bring people home from nursing homes, provide quality end of life for Hospice patients and it provides a quick fix for those that find themselves in desperate need of a ramp.
