SUNY Oswego senior biochemistry major and May 2023 graduate Fathima Raviya Careem recently presented her research on tuberculosis at this year’s World Congress on Undergraduate Research (WorldCUR) in the U.K. She is the first SUNY Oswego student to do so.

Oswego Artists Impress At Scholastic Art Awards And Oswego County Student Art Show

Several Oswego City School District students were recently recognized for their artwork submitted to the Central New York Scholastic Art Awards and the Oswego County Student Art Show & Competition.

Constellation Aids OCO Programs

Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) was the recipient of a $10,000 gift from Constellation in support of the agency’s many human services programs. The gift is part of Constellation’s commitment to supporting charitable organizations in the community it serves. OCO was nominated by Constellation Nine Mile Point Plant employee Jessica Piper as a result of the support and services OCO’s Services to Aid Families program (SAF) provided for a family member that was experiencing domestic violence. OCO welcomed her to its SAF house where she and her children could be secure and sheltered from the abuse.

NYS Office Of General Services Announces Statewide Collection Of Worn American Flags For Proper Disposal

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced that OGS will today start collecting worn and tattered flags at locations statewide so that they can be properly retired. The collected flags will be disposed of as part of the Memorial Watchfire hosted by the CNY Veterans Recognition Foundation, with the continuing participation of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 103, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. ConnextCare Announces 2023 Kathy A. Ellis Scholarship Winner

ConnextCare is pleased to announce the winner of the annual Kathy A. Ellis Scholarship. This year’s $500 scholarship winner is Ashley Rupert, LPN. The Kathy A. Ellis Scholarship is awarded annually to an individual entering a program or continuing education in the field of nursing. Rupert is continuing her education to become a Registered Nurse through Excelsior College.

Munchkin Mayhem Rolls High Score at OCO Bowl-A-Fun

The Munchkin Mayhem team representing Fulton Savings Bank captured first place with the highest score in Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) Somewhere Over the Rain-Bowl tournament held recently at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton. They also received the award for best team theme.

Norman C. Brundage, 68, of Cortland, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Seneca Hill Manor in Oswego. Norman was born February 8, 1955 in Syracuse to Charles and Edith Brundage.

I-690 Westbound Ramp Connecting To I-81 Northbound To Close To Traffic On Saturday, May 20

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the ramp from westbound Interstate 690 to northbound Interstate 81 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, in the City of Syracuse, to facilitate bridge joint repairs.
