Legislators Continue Discussion On Slaughterhouse Proposal
County lawmakers heard an update Tuesday regarding Bion Environmental Technologies proposal. If Bion’s slaughterhouse plan becomes a reality, it would bring more than 70,000 head of beef cattle into the county.
County Battles Water Chestnuts
The invasive species looms as a significant threat to the Oswego River and other bodies of water – including Lake Ontario. It could cost the county a significant amount of lost tourism revenues if allowed to spread further.
Scene Around Town: The Case Of The Frightened Fox
A fox has been coming around on and off, early mornings, at Dick Drosse’s house in Minetto.
The award-winning photographer has grabbed his camera time and again in an attempt to capture a portrait of the visitor.
However, it spooks easily.
“I couldn’t figure how I could step out and get a good photo,” Drosse said. “I’d just get ready to take the photo, and the fox would run off.”
A little while ago, he found out why.
As the fox strolled toward the house, “out of the brush pops our cat, Leo, chasing the fox,” Drosse explained. It’s as if Leo’s yelling, “There’s only room for one boss around here!”
If you’d like to see more of Drosse’s photography, visit the Oswego Public Library; it is hosting an exhibition of his work through Oct. 5.
