Mount Pleasant UMC To Hold Picnic
The Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church picnic will be Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Volney Town Hall Park pavilion. The town park is located at the corner of County Route 6 and State Route 3.

Hannibal Central School District will host a summer institute for incoming freshmen that allows students to work on skills and will minimize the learning gap between the eighth and ninth grade. The event will take place August 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m in the district board room, 928 Cayuga St, Hannibal.
The second annual fabric sale fundraiser is being held to support the Oswego County 4-H Program, part of Cornell Cooperative Extension. This sale will be held August 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Believer’s Chapel, 5375 State Route 3, Mexico.
The winner of a raffle for a beautiful handmade quilt, made by Marylou Brower with some help from fellow quilter Shirley King and generously donated to the St. Francis Commons Resident Council, is Tammy Holland.
On August 6, families stopping by the farmers’ market (West First Street, south of Bridge Street) from 4:30 to 8 p.m. will have an opportunity to talk with folks about a type of wellness we sometimes don’t think about. The Early Recognition Screening Program provides free mental health screenings for children under the age of 20.
Golfers in the 18th Annual St. Luke-Francis Boyce Memorial Charity Tournament will take aim at a $20,000 hole-in-one contest thanks to The House Works in Fulton. The event tees off with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on August 8 at Battle Island State Park in Fulton.
Church in Oswego will hold its annual Polish Festival August 9 on the church grounds at 140 Niagara St. from noon until 7 p.m. Volunteers have been busy preparing the Polish foods.
Beat the heat this August at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center with two public programs that they will be presenting. On August 11 at 10 a.m., kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a “wet and wild” summer morning adventure with naturalist Pat Carney. Then, on August 16 at 2 p.m., come for a walk through the cool woodlands and wetlands of the center to explore the world of salamanders.
The Oswego County 4-H Program has an enormous stockpile of items, and like last year, everything is priced to sell, with many great deals to be found. All fabric is being sold by the piece at just $2 a yard. The sale’s proceeds benefit the local 4-H program.
