BBQ to Benefit United Way
Woodchuck Saloon, 1 Mitchell St., will host a chicken BBQ to benefit United Way of Greater Oswego County beginning at noon on October 15. In addition to the BBQ there will also be a United Way chili cook-off.

The Lake Effect Trio will open the 2017-18 season of the LaVeck Concert Series on October 7. The trio – pianist Rob Auler, cellist Heidi Hoffman and violinist Sonya Williams – will perform three unique works by Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Astor Piazzola.

Timed Up and Go, or “TUG”, is an assessment that can be completed while a senior is attending a routine office visit with their Primary Care Physician.
Guests enjoyed a picnic-style dinner, served by Principal Jeff Hendrickson and staff members. Music played as attendees visited stations from school and community partners, including a popular face painter who transformed Lanigan student into butterflies, tigers, monsters and other characters.
Oswego City School District is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $2,832,000 five-year ($566,400 annually) Empire State After-School Program grant from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to provide high quality, free after-school and summer programming to 400 students in grades 3-6.
In working through their science curriculum, the fourth graders recently visited Camp Hollis in Oswego Town where they learned about layers of rocks while on the shore of Lake Ontario, nature shapes during a walk through the woods, bird migration though a reader’s theater, layers of pond water and much more.
State Senator Patty Ritchie recently visited the Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Altmar for its 21st annual open house and family day. The event is held in conjunction with the celebration of “National Hunting and Fishing Day.”
