The artistic impressions of several Oswego High School students were recognized in the annual Central New York Scholastic Arts competition. Several Oswego students were recently recognized at ceremonies on the Onondaga Community College campus. Their work will be on display through February 28 at the Whitney Applied Technology Center, 4941 Onondaga Road in Syracuse.
Mohawk Valley Community College, located in Utica and Rome, is proud to announce the names of students whose high academic performance has qualified them for recognition as members of the Vice President’s List for the recently completed Fall 2013 semester.
The Oswego Rotary recently hosted Betty Dunsmore from Hospice of Central New York and Debbie Bishop from Oswego County Hospice. Ms. Dunsmore updated members on efforts in Central New York by Hospice. Ms. Bishop gave an update on the local Friends of Oswego County Hospice.
A free two-part workshop called Photoshop Elements for Artists will be offered at the Oswego Public Library on February 15 and 22 from noon to 3 p.m. The workshop will be led by artist and teacher Bill DeMott in the Library Learning Center.
During the school’s daily Morning Express program, students and staff – clad in red in recognition of February as American Heart Month – opened their wallets and donated money to the American Heart Association. According to Principal Jean Ciesla, the outpouring of support was tremendous, with contributors filling the donation cans with $150.
Meghan Yost of Mexico is among a record number of students who will present their research Feb. 20 as part of Heidelberg University’s 21st annual “Minds @ Work” Student Research Conference. Yost, a junior majoring in History and Political Science, will present “The East German People under Soviet Occupation.”
Oswego Rotary hosted Oswego High School seniors Kerrigan Cummins, Elizabeth Baker and Tara Stacy recently. The students represent an elite group of seniors who are at the top of their class academically.
The APW Parent-Teacher-Student Association hosted a Glow-In-The-Dark Dance Party on January 31 for students in grades four through six and then a Snow Ball on February 7 for students in kindergarten through grade three.
