A benefit all-you-can-eat pasta dinner is scheduled for October 20 at the Oasis Room at Thunder Island from noon to 4 p.m. The event is taking place to raise money for the Barry family, Sue, Bob and Ryan. Ryan, who is 12, was riding a mountain bike at camp at Casowasco when he hit a rock on the trail, lost control of the bicycle and hit a tree.
The Canal Corporation performs these inspections by water annually, affording it the opportunity to examine the entire canal, its channel and embankments as well as connect with communities, elected officials, community leaders and other stakeholders across the state.

FitzPatrick plant, the United Way of Greater Oswego County will once again provide first time parents with the must have book, Children Do Come with Directions: A Guide for Parents. Filled with valuable information, the book provides first time parents with tips and strategies that will help them develop into responsible and effective parents.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Government, Courts and Consumer Affairs Committee presented Deborah West with a certificate of appreciation for her 36 years of service to the county.
The Oswego County Health Department Staff Association recently donated $650 to the Food Bank of CNY. The association raised money through gift basket raffles to make the contribution, which will be used exclusively in Oswego County.
Fourth graders at Volney Elementary School are learning about Native American contributions to New York State. Students at Volney Elementary recently had classroom discussions on the Iroquois, and learned about dream catchers from Library Media Specialist Sarah Fay.
The following students received academic honors from Binghamton University by making the university’s dean’s list for the Spring 2013 semester:
Pulaski Junior High School eighth graders put their technology knowledge to the test when they created Quality World collages using iPads in their math classrooms. The project tasked students to create a personalized collage using images that represent their “Quality World” and their “basic needs.”
Schulz was chosen for the award for her commitment to not only her students, but to quality adapted physical education. The recognition is also evidence of her leadership, reputation for exemplary work, and dedication to professional excellence.
Residents from Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton made a trip to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse to take in all of the attractions, including a trip through the Lion Corridor where they got to see Joshua, one of the zoo’s three lions, sunning himself on a warm late summer day.
