Annual Skate Bike Ride Event Promotes Safety As Well As Fun
Hundreds of young bike and skateboard enthusiasts take part in the Oswego Health sponsored event hosted by the Red Planet Skate and Bike Park. Youngsters could get new helmets, and learn health and safety information, including the dangers of tobacco use.

Oswego Students, Parents Asked To Join Elementary School Study Zone Blitz
Oswego students and parents will be encouraged to use education internet services on the Oswego City School District web page as Study Zone Blitz is under way. Technology Integration Specialist Mary Beth Fierro said, “We kicked off the blitz on Thursday, June 5. This is a weeklong effort to familiarize students, parents and teachers with the Study Zone that is available on the district web site.â€ÂÂ

Nearly 200 youngsters from across the county take part in writing and art events to highlight local history. The top entries in each grade level were recognized at an awards ceremony at the H. Lee White Marine Museum.

More Than 2 Million Reasons To Honor Veterans
“Remember this number – 1,961,680. That is the number we should say thanks to for this day of summer fun,” said George Hoffman, the MC for Oswego’s Memorial Day observance. That is the number of veterans killed in action during our nation’s wars, he pointed out. To that, he added 601,710 POWs and 161,489 MIA.
