More than 100 Fairgrieve Elementary School students were recently recognized for achieving academic excellence for the third marking period. Awards were given out during a Morning Express program where classmates, teachers, additional Fairgrieve staff members and several guests applauded the students for their efforts and accomplishments.
Fairley Elementary students received a lesson in physical fitness and adaptability during a recent visit from Move Along Inc. Representatives from the nonprofit organization discussed their mission of providing adapted recreational opportunities for people who live with disabilities.
Leighton Elementary School is full of pint-sized heroes. The student body recently came together to host an American Red Cross Blood Drive, which involved child-led recruitment of blood donors.

After starting with a few steps five months ago, residents at Bishop’s Commons compiled enough steps collectively to reach their goal in the “Walking to Las Vegas Challenge,” sponsored by Kindred at Home. In what was a fun way to keep active and get in some exercise, residents were able to keep track of their steps in and around the residence.
Funded through the New York State Education Department, the Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to children throughout the summer months.
CNY Arts Center announces changes in dates for theatre productions for the second half of the 2018 season. With the new Community Arts Center a work in progress, the organization has decided to push White Christmas back until the end of the year, December 7-16, to complete renovations on the new center.
