Fulton Council Expends More Money to Clear Aldi Site at Former Nestle Location

The Fulton Common Council approved the expenditure of an additional $100,000 to allow Fulton based contractor, Rowlee Construction to continue removing debris from the former Nestle site. Last month, the council accepted a bid from Rowlee to remove debris from the 2.2 acre corner parcel of the site that is designated to incoming supermarket chain, Aldi. Rowlee is on pace to exceed the $100,000 limit as of the current work that has been completed, requiring the council to consider an additional approval for continued work, Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said.

Tim Conners Returns Home After “Intense” Summit of Mount Kilimanjaro

This afternoon at roughly 1:45, Tim Conners returned to his anxiously awaiting family after an adventurous two-week stretch in Africa. Conners, commonly referred to as Tim Possible, traveled the 7,556 miles from Fulton to the Kilimanjaro International Airport in Africa two weeks ago to begin his trek to the top of the highest point on the African continent as part of his MounTimPossible mission. On his twelfth day in Africa, Conners and his team partnered with K2 Adventures Foundation reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at 18,885 feet after 53 hours of climbing over a nine day stretch.

Fulton Block Builders Awards First Check to Homeowners

The Fulton Block Builders has awarded the first matching grant check to homeowners in the city that were selected for the program. Based off the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative, Fulton Block Builders is a grassroots, non-for profit neighborhood revitalization program that offers homeowners partial recovery of their home improvement expenses. After completing more than $2,300 worth of exterior enhancements to their property, Albert and Ellen Zaranka only requested a $500 return despite the possibility to have received more.

For many veterans, to stand in the rain may be but a small inconvenience when compared to the tribulations of battle. To stand through the rain while honoring their fallen comrades, however, is no inconvenience at all but instead, an honor. Several veterans of various distinctions representing local veterans services organizations came together this Memorial Day (May 29) to pay tribute to the fallen through a ceremony organized by the Fulton Veterans’ Council. They paired with elected officials, local law enforcement, and a large number of members of the Fulton community to recognize the many local heroes who lost their life in the name of freedom.

Fulton’s 36th Annual Memorial Day Salute

The 36th annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute wasn’t halted by the early rain as hundreds of community members lined Broadway to watch parade entries go by one by one. The parade, organized by Cre8 Studios L.L.C., held roughly 100 parade entries. “Despite a rainy morning we had a great turn out for the parade both in participants and spectators,” said Heathe Jones of Cre8 Studios. Lawrence Macner led the parade as Grand Marshall as the 2017 Veteran of the Year, selected by the Fulton Veterans Council.
