UPDATE: The Oswego County Drug Task Force with the assistance of the New York State Police, City of Fulton Police Department, City of Oswego Police Department and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 3882 County Route 6 in the Town of New Haven.
New York Sea Grant issued a series of impact statements for projects completed in 2011. The projects impacted diverse interest sectors including commercial fishermen, US Coast Guard search and rescue programs, the seafood industry, New York’s teachers and students, public and private coastal property managers, municipal leaders, and fisheries managers.
The Oswego City School District officials have indicated that there are some major changes in the academic calendar. This Friday will be a half day of school for all Oswego City School District students. Other dates have changed, also.
Contributing authors to the recently published book Sometimes The Wind Blows Sideways: Our Lives with a Special Needs Child gathered on Monday at the Oswego Arise office to celebrate their participation in raising awareness on special needs.
The Oswego school board has challenged the superintendent to present a 2012-13 budget with zero percent tax levy increase, or better. On April 17 the board is slated to vote on the tentative spending plan. The public vote is set for May 15.
State champions Drake Becksted and Cory Keefe returned to Oswego on Saturday evening celebrating a day which qualified them as the elite among their peers in their respective events. Meanwhile, the boys’ varsity hockey team earned a berth in this weekend’s Final Four Division II State Tournament and Cameron Byrne rolled the overall high series of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling Tournament in Waverly, as the Bucs finished fourth.
Danielle Czyz is one of the more than two dozen AmeriCorps workers getting things done in Oswego County. “The goal of AmeriCorps is to bring Americans together to strengthen our community. You may see members serving in an organization that serves our community, a school, or a library,” she said.
