Dozens Lose Their Hair To Fight Childhood Cancer

Emily Bradshaw gets her hair shaved off as one of her friends tries to get a closer look.

It took Emily Bradshaw nearly her entire life to grow her long brown hair. It took only a few moments for the Kingsford fifth grader’s locks to be shaved off Monday evening. However, Emily’s unselfish act will give other youngsters a fighting chance at life. The 10-year-old was one of nearly 80 people taking part in the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation event in the food court of the Campus Center at SUNY Oswego.

Oswego Council Deliberates Mayor’s Salary, Assistant Position

Any change in the mayor’s salary must be done by March 15, according to the city charter. Councilors also debated the possibility of re-establishing the executive assistant position. Questions remain as to what the specific duties would be, how much the person gets paid and how it would be funded. As of right now, the general feeling among councilors is to leave the position unfunded while they get more information regarding the position over all.

Oswego Looks To Reduce Its Carbon Footprint, Save Money

The city has been awarded a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority Energy Efficiency Block Grant for the Climate Smart Communities program. It would help the city to benchmark its current energy use and identify and apply for additional grant opportunities to reduce energy consumption and costs.
