Judge Postpones Malone’s Sentencing

UPDATED: Oswego County Court Judge Walter Hafner has postponed the sentencing of Joyce Malone until next month. Malone, who was convicted Jan. 24 in the shooting death of her husband, appeared in court today (March 7) with her attorney, James Eby. The defense attorney explained that his client is undergoing treatment for an inoperable cancer. An interruption in the treatments now, he said, “would be life-threatening.”

Legislators Updated On 911 Enhancements, 5-Year plan

County legislators recently were updated on the work that’s under way on several of the new radio towers that will play a key role in upgrading Oswego County’s emergency radio communications system. The new interoperable radio system will be used by emergency responders to answer calls in all areas of the county – and across county lines. It will provide 97 percent coverage for portable radios used by emergency responders.

Mexico’s Superintendent of Schools is the subject of an article in a downstate newspaper today.  Robert Pritchard came to Mexico from Kingston, where he was the business manager.  The district is now dealing with the effects of a double-dipping scandal, which Pritchard first spotted two years ago, the article says.
