The three Oswego mayoral candidates faced a nearly full house Wednesday night at Oswego High School’s Faust Theatre. Incumbent Tom Gillen was flanked on stage by Amy Tresidder, the Democratic candidate and Billy Barlow, the Republican candidate, as the trio fielded various questions about their age, economic development, housing, code enforcement and more.
A life jacket and some quick thinking fishermen saved a woman from a dangerous situation this morning (Oct. 14) in the Oswego River. The Oswego Fire Department was dispatched to the Oswego River at 8:16 a.m. for a woman floating down river, near the Varick Dam.

State Senator Patty Ritchie is marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month by announcing she has delivered $116,000 in special funding to help support the efforts of local organizations seeking to stop the spread of violence, rape and sexual assault throughout Central and Northern New York.
UPDATED: Dr. Dilip K. Roy, former Fulton doctor at his family owned practice FastCare Family Medical plead not guilty Tuesday to his indictment charges. He was previously indicted on two counts of rape in the third degree, according to Assistant District Attorney, Allison O’Neill. Dr. Roy is now facing new charges as well after a second arrest today in relation to a different occurrence.

FOH (Friends of History) and the Fulton Public Library will co-sponsor a ghost tour October 30. Earlier this year the ghost hunters visited the buildings and definitely found some activity at both sites. Participants will have the opportunity to tour both buildings led by the “ghost hunters” and hopefully will be visited by former tenants.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that an open house public information meeting will be held regarding a project to rehabilitate Route 104 in the town of Oswego, Oswego County. The open house will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 14 in the Oswego Town Hall, located at 2320 County Route 7.
