The council granted authorization for the mayor to request the city’s state legislators prepare and introduce the necessary legislation to enable the city to continue the additional one percent sales and compensation use tax for the period December 1, 2013 and ending November 30, 2015. It is due to expire on Nov. 30.

Trinity Catholic School will be holding an open house from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on February 6, at 115 E. Fifth St. The open house is designed for parents in the community who are interested in enrolling their children for the 2013-2014 school year.

The law, amending Chapter 228 of the Code of the City of Oswego, in particular who can be taxi divers in the Port City, was approved 7-0 Monday. The lone speaker at the public hearing, a former opponent of the law, voiced his support of the new version.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious accident in Scriba. The crash happened at about 3:54 p.m. today at 737 County Route 1, Scriba. There is no report currently on the condition of either person involved.

Oswego High School Executive Principal Brian Hartwell was proud of the academic accomplishments of his students as he released the first quarter honor rolls.
