Those pesky showers could change to flurries later today for some of us.
The Coast Guard has been conducting joint training exercises with the Oswego Fire Department to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Earlier this month, a college student was swept off the Breakwall and into the icy Lake Ontario water. He suffered only minor injuries and was rescued quickly. Many people aren’t as fortunate, according to Senior Chief Joe Orlando of Coast Guard Station Oswego.
A teenager from Fulton was struck by a vehicle after walking into the roadway in Hannibal, troopers said. She suffered minor injuries.in Oswego County. The driver was taken into custody after troopers discovered he was wanted on a warrant issued by the Geneva Police Department.
The suspect has been charged with felonies in connection to at least two separate incidents. Police are continuing to investigate and additional charges are pending.

Mayor Tom Gillen presented a certification of appreciation to the members of the Oswego Fire Department at Tuesday night’s council meeting. Chief Jeff McCrobie and five firefighters were recognized for rescuing Aaron Matthews after he had been swept off the breakwall into Lake Ontario on Feb. 6.
UPDATE: A body found along the Lake Ontario shore in Scriba will be sent to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office to determine its identity. Police say there were no signs of foul play on the body.
