NYS Environmental Conservation Police On Patrol

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) Division of Law Enforcement enforces the 71 chapters of New York State’s Environmental Conservation Law (ECL), protecting fish and wildlife and preserving environmental quality across New York. In 1880, the first eight Game Protectors proudly began serving to protect the natural resources and people of New York State. In 2022, Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) and Investigators across the state responded to more than 25,600 calls and worked on cases that resulted in nearly 13,800 tickets or arrests for violations ranging from deer poaching to solid waste dumping, illegal mining, the black market pet trade, and excessive emissions violations.

An Oswego, NY native, Dator graduated from Oswego High School in 2002. Then he went on to study at Loyola University and the American University of the Caribbean before completing his Family Practice Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center.

Hannibal Free Library Launches Summer Reading Program

The Hannibal Free Library hosts its 2023 summer reading program, “All Together Now,” offering weekly activities, fun events and the chance to win prizes for reading. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from July 11 through August 22 at the Hannibal Free Library is located at 162 Oswego St., Hannibal. The seven-week program is primarily directed at children ages one to 12.

FASNY Sounds The Alarm As New York’s Lead In Fire Deaths Continues

Last weekend’s tragic house fire in New Scotland  sadly added four more individuals to the State’s mounting residential fire death toll for 2023. In 2017, 2018, and 2019, New York unfortunately led the nation in fire deaths. Once again, the State is currently on track for the same dishonorable mention in 2023.

GRB’s Early College High School Program Gives Students An Up-Close Look At Upstate Hospital

Students in the Early College High School health sciences program at Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School recently got a behind-the-scenes look at Upstate Hospital with a valuable job shadowing experience. The shadowing program, hosted from now through August, gives incoming seniors at least 20 hours of service credit working with doctors, nurses, and hospital staff in a variety of medical fields.
