Mayor Barlow Announces 2023 “Rock the Docks” Concert Series Lineup

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the lineup for the third year of the “Rock the Docks” concert series.  “Rock the Docks” will kick off on August 5 with local musician Dave Hawthorne. The concert series is designed to entertain docked boaters and tenants of Wright’s Landing with the permanent stage positioned to provide prime viewing and listening by boats in the marina area and harbor. Attendees from land may also use a small seating area available in the west end parking lot.  Concerts are free to attend and will run from 6:00pm to 9:00 p.m.

First Do No Harm: Prioritize Roadway User Safety Before Raising Speed Limits

Drivers desiring faster commutes might view a higher speed limit as a boon, but is it always the safest choice? And what about the safety needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and others?  A new study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety finds that raising posted speed limits may do little to save time and increase traffic flow but could lead to more crashes, injuries, and deaths.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Proposed Replacement Of U.S. Route 11 Bridge, Bridge E-64, Across The Erie Canal, Between Cicero, Onondaga County, Hastings, And Oswego County

All interested parties are notified that the Commander, Ninth Coast Guard District, has received an application from the New York State Department of Transportation (“NYSDOT”) requesting approval of the location and plans for proposed replacement of the U.S. Route 11 Bridge, Bridge E-64, across the Erie Canal, mile 150.58, between the Cicero, Onondaga County, and Hastings, Oswego County, New York.

DEC Announces Multi-Year Research Study To Improve Bald And Golden Eagle Conservation Efforts

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today announced DEC is seeking hunters to participate in a multi-year study of non-lead ammunition impacts on the State’s eagle conservation efforts. DEC is partnering with the New York Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit at Cornell University, U.S. Geological Survey, and Conservation Science Global on the study to determine the reduction in bald and golden eagle deaths that can be achieved from increased use of non-lead ammunition for deer hunting.
