McDonald’s Celebrating Local Public Safety Officials

The McDonald’s on South 4th Street in Fulton is celebrating two events with members of the Fulton Fire Department and Fulton Police Department. On Saturday, October 14th from 11a.m.-1p.m., their friends with the Fulton Fire Department & Fulton Police Department will be set up and families will have a chance to get an up close and personal look at a fire engine in the McDonald’s parking lot. On Tuesday, October 17th from 9a.m. to 11a.m., the Fulton McDonald’s will be hosting a “Meet the Chiefs” breakfast where neighbors can meet David Eiffe, the new Fulton Fire Chief and Assistant Chief Shane Laws and learn about their plans for the future.

Women’s Center To Build Awareness Of Domestic Violence With Take Back The Night

The SUNY Oswego Women’s Center will host the 35th annual Take Back the Night at 6 p.m. Oct. 24, to raise awareness of domestic violence. The Take Back the Night march brings attention to violence, including sexual assault and domestic violence, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A rally with guest speakers will precede the march.

Legislators Invited To Town Hall Meeting To Discuss Issues

At the close of Thursday’s meeting, members of the Oswego County Legislature were invited to attend a non-partisan town hall event. Suzanne Stout, representing We the People of Oswego Indivisible, said the event, scheduled for 7 p.m. on October 17, would take place in the Legislative Chamber on the fourth floor of the County Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St. “We are a non-partisan group and we are trying to educate ourselves and the public about issues that face Oswego County,” she explained.

West Monroe Horse Diagnosed with EEE; Residents Urged to Remain Vigilant

The Oswego County Health Department reported today that a horse in West Monroe tested positive for the EEE virus in the state lab. The horse was seen by a veterinarian and euthanized on September 28. Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said horses are very susceptible to mosquito-borne diseases if they are not vaccinated.

Man Found in Possession of Drugs, Handgun

A caller advised a vehicle had left the scene prior to police arrival. A patrol unit in the area located the vehicle and executed a vehicle and traffic stop on Gilbert Street. During the course of the investigation, a handgun was reportedly recovered. A subsequent search of the occupants discovered the backseat passenger, Shaheim Brown, to be in possession of several different controlled substances, according to police.
