Against Auburn we came out very quick in set 1, we have been working on pushing hard and early in sets and keeping momentum in our favor. Set 2 we again stormed out but we struggled with our defense and were able to rebound. In set 3 we minimized our errors to close out the match.
As the sun goes down at Oswego Speedway on October 7, the lights will go on at Fulton Speedway, just 15 minutes away, when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series joins NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week for one night of hot racing action along with the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified 25-lap “Win and You’re In,” determining the final starting position in Sunday night’s Billy Whittaker Cars 200 main event.
Congratulations to Chris Wright (member) and Bob Ruggio (member) on winning the 2017 Stone Creek Golf Club Member-Member Tournament with a two-day total score of 146. The second annual two-day 24 team event included 3 unique matches including 18 holes of Best Ball on day one and on day two, Modified Alternate Shot on the front nine and Captain and Mate on the back nine.
We have been working on starting fast in matches as we started slow the first two matches of the season. The girls came out very quick against visiting Fulton. Our serving was spot on as well as our defense. The second and third set we kept the speed we wanted and never looked back.
At the end of the 10-race Shea Concrete Triple Crown Championship Series presented by ASI Racewear, Michael Muldoon and Dave Shullick Jr. stand on top as champions with the duo netting a combined $16,000 for their efforts.
Ohio’s Dave Shullick Jr. continued on his impressive win streak on Saturday at Star Speedway when he took home his second career Classic win at the Epping bullring. Shullick had set out at the beginning of the race season with several goals in mind. To race some ISMA, to win the Oswego Speedway track championship and perhaps redeeming last year’s heartbreaking loss of the International Classic 200 with a lap to go by winning this year.
A tradition on Budweiser International Classic Weekend at Oswego Speedway, track management in conjunction with Hall of Fame presenting sponsor Mitchell’s Speedway Press has announced the 2017 Mitchell’s Speedway Press Hall of Fame inductees. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are the 115th, 116th, 117th, 118th and 119th in track history.
The second annual NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Toyota Mod Classic 150 ran last Saturday at Oswego Speedway will air on national television tonight, September 7, beginning at 6 p.m. on the NBC Sports Network.
The Girls’ JV Volleyball team moved to 2-0 for the season after defeating both Westhill and F-M 3 sets to zero. Also, Oswego had a good showing in the Penfield Volleyball tournament.
Fulton Speedway will return to its roots beginning in 2018 as DIRTcar 358 Modifieds will become the headline class at the speedway. The track hosted 358-modified racing exclusively from its dirt debut in 1979 until 2000 when Big Blocks became the headline division. Fulton Speedway will join Utica-Rome Speedway as Central New York DIRTcar 358-Modified race tracks. Big Block Racing will remain a weekly fixture at Brewerton Speedway.
