Casey Balzer (Sr., Nassau, N.Y.) and Chris Porten (Jr., Auburn, N.Y.) scored twice in the final thirty seconds of regulation to complete a 10-9 come-from-behind win for the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team (6-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) against Brockport (2-6, 0-1) Saturday afternoon.

The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (3-4, 0-1 SUNYAC) trailed by one goal near the end of the first half, but Fredonia (7-0, 1-0) rattled off eight straight goals as the Lakers fell, 13-5, on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Double D Motorsports, which will field a two car Pathfinder Bank SBS team in 2013, has signed on Menter’s Ambulance Service as a new sponsor for the coming season.

In its first action since Spring Break, the Oswego State baseball team (9-5, 2-1 SUNYAC) fell in both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Ithaca (13-4).  The Lakers dropped a tough game in extra innings to start the day, losing 2-1 in 13 innings.  Ithaca broke out the bats in the second game, cruising to a 10-3 win.

The Oswego State softball team (4-8, 1-1 SUNYAC) knocked off Cortland (7-9, 1-1 SUNYAC) in game one of a doubleheader, 4-2, to snap a 36-game Red Dragon winning streak on Friday. Cortland responded by winning the nightcap, 8-0, in five innings. The victory marked the Lakers’ first over Cortland since April 25, 1987.

Due the stubbornness of the last blast of winter from mother nature that has made drying conditions tough in Oswego county, the April  6 Test Tune at the Fulton Speedway has been cancelled. The season opener  will see all systems go to kick off the 2013 season.

Joe Marotta’s ‘Around the Tracks’ radio show will once again broadcast live Saturday at 9 a.m. from the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum. Joining Marotta for his one-hour broadcast will be a host of Oswego Speedway Small Block Super competitors including JJ Andrews, Andrew Schartner, Jack Patrick, Mike Bruce, and Jeremy Pitcher.

For the second straight year, the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team and Ithaca were unable to settle things in regulation. However, the Lakers came up short as Andrew Bruce’s fourth goal of the contest nearly two minutes into overtime gave the Bombers a 6-5 victory Tuesday afternoon.

The Oswego State Women’s lacrosse team (3-3) was unable to capitalize on an early lead, as the Utica Pioneers scored seven unanswered first-half goals en route to handing the Lakers a 10-5 loss at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
