The top-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team made sure that last year’s State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) semifinal loss did not repeat itself, as the Lakers scored six straight goals in the first and second periods en route to an 8-3 win over Fredonia (12-11-3) on Saturday.

The Lakers (25-3) capped off a perfect regular season and a 3-0 tournament run with a thrilling 66-57 win over second-seeded Cortland (21-7) at Max Ziel Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The top-seeded and 14th-ranked Oswego State men’s basketball team is just 40 minutes of basketball away from its first SUNYAC championship since the 1960s after edging fourth-seeded Brockport, 64-57, in the semifinals at Laker Hall Friday night.
Oswego junior sprint standout Cory Keefe, kept his unbeaten streak intact at the State Meet Qualifier. Keefe placed first in the 55 meter hurdles as the event held at the Onondaga Community College SRC Arena track. His performance earned him a position at the New York State Track and Field Championships.
Eastern College Athletic Conference Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced the ECAC Women’s West all-conference ice hockey team for the 2011-12 season and two Oswego State players landed on the squads.
Sophomore Jacqueline Murphy (Holy Names/Slingerlands, N.Y.) was elected to the All-Liberty League first team and senior Kristen Kush (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton) garnered honorable mention.

The Fulton YMCA Speed Demons traveled to Norwich recently to swim against the Norwich Dolphins. During the meet, several Fulton swimmers were recognized as swimmers of the week.
