The fire was reported at about 4:00 a.m., officials said. It took more than an hour to bring it under control.

Maxwell House Catches Fire Overnight
Reports indicate that the home where Erin Maxwell lived and died caught fire overnight.
The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, according to WSTM.
The home is vacant, so the fire is automatically of suspicious origin.

Fire Damages Oswego Home; Dog Saved
The Oswego Fire Department responded to a structure fire Wednesday evening at 78 E. Fifth St. There were no injuries reported. A dog inside the home at the time of the fire was brought to a veterinarian. The cause of the blaze was said to be food left cooking on the stove.

The city has sold the site of the former city DPW administration building to an owner who intends to bring an auto repair business to the city.
