Winners of 2015 Parade of Trees at Fulton Pratt House Listed

The John Wells Pratt House Museum of Fulton has held the annual Parade of Trees for roughly 35 years. Developed as a way for the residents of the city of Fulton and local businesses and organizations to come together during the holiday season, the event has only grown with each passing year. Today, the event is open to any school, non-profit organization or business that is interested in entering a decorated tree for the contest. Any person or group interested may enter a decorated Christmas tree in any of the four categories including adult, youth, child or business. The following presents the first, second and third places winners for each category.

Fulton Gets Festive at 12th Annual Tree Lighting

The city of Fulton got into the Christmas spirit during its annual tree lighting jubilee. Held at the municipal building both inside and outside, as well as at the Public Library, a crowd of considerable size showed up to partake in the festivities. Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, Barry Ostrander, said the event had an excellent turnout this year. “This is probably the biggest one yet. We’ve had good turnouts in the past but this appears to be the biggest,” said Ostrander.

Fulton City Council Adopts 2016 Budget with 4.3% Tax Increase

The Fulton city common council approved the final 2016 budget after a public hearing held Tuesday. Starting the budget process with a 10% tax increase in the first draft; the mayor, councilmen and city clerk/chamberlain worked through the weeks to go over the budget meticulously and make any cuts to lower the tax increase as much as possible. In its final and approved stage, the $15.9 million budget brings forth an overall increase of $261,091 from the 2015 budget and a 4.3% tax increase.

Former Patients of Dr. Dilip Roy: Finding a New Physician

Many patients have unexpectedly needed to switch physicians after Dr. Dilip K. Roy of Fastcare Family Medical in Fulton was arrested earlier this year for rape in the third degree, and later arrested again on separate charges of forcible touching and sexual abuse in the third degree from allegations of a former patient.

Katko Participates in Roundtable Discussion with Local Small Business Owners

United States Congressman, John Katko made a stop in Fulton during a trip to numerous Central New York locations yesterday, November 12.
After visiting his alma matar at Syracuse University and before appearing at the Rally for Fort Ontario in Oswego, Congressman Katko visited the Fulton Municipal Building for a roundtable discussion on eoonomics with city officials and local business owners.
