When Christine Prevost of Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. wanted to reach out to her fellow employees and enlighten them regarding the many wellness related programs that are available to them she knew just where to turn.
Thanks to a partnership between Oswego County Opportunities’ Senior Nutrition Services and the Grist Mill Restaurant in Parish, Oswego County residents, age 60 and over, are now able to enjoy a nutritious meal in the friendly environment of the Grist Mill Restaurant.
Facilitated by Kathleen Hayden of REACH CNY, the shower featured an enlightening presentation regarding the expectations of motherhood and the benefits of breastfeeding. Kim Kelley, certified lactation counselor with OCO’s WIC program, said that the event was a perfect compliment to the efforts of the program’s peer counselors.
Funded through the New York State Education Department, the Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to all children 18 years and under.

Located in the Wilcox Center at Spring and Church streets, the center is open Tuesdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. during the school year and 2 to 5 p.m. during the summer.
