The Phoenix American Legion Post 418 announces a full weekend of good food and fun. A chicken barbeque will kick off the weekend beginning at noon on Saturday (May 20) and serving until gone and the fun doesn’t stop there. A steak bake will keep the good food coming on Sunday, May 21.
While National Prescription Take-Back Day (April 29) serves as a pressing reminder, the MedSafe medication disposal service in Phoenix operates daily to lessen the availability of unused prescription medications. It serves to allow Phoenix and neighboring community residents the opportunity to safely and anonymously deposit any unused prescription medication at any time for safe disposal.
The Phoenix addiction support group, H.O.P.E will host a special guest speaker for the Phoenix and surrounding communities. A free, public support group meeting will feature guest speaker Jared Croy from Advanced Recovery Systems beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. The meeting will take place at the Sweet Memorial Building located at 455 Main Street in Phoenix.
The Phoenix Police Department has taken to Facebook to ask village residents to “refrain from dressing up like clowns for Halloween.” The request, triggering varied response from the public, was posted to the Phoenix Village Police Department Facebook page.
October got a warm welcome as the first day of the month brought residents from the Village of Phoenix to their local waterfront to enjoy fall festivities at Phoenix’s first ever, “Locktoberfest.” Expanding on last year’s successful “Phoenix Fall Phestival,” sponsorship from the NYS Canal Corporation helped the event grow and be reintroduced under the new name, “Locktoberfest” running from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Oct 1) for a full day of fun.
