Throwback Thursday Art Displayed at Leighton Elementary School
Sixth grade students at Leighton Elementary School in Oswego are enjoying a retrospective art display, thanks to their art teacher, Michele Gorham. She has been saving student portraits that were created since kindergarten, and the artwork is now being paired with their present day portraits.
CiTi Students Get A Heaping Helping Of Project-Based Learning
A project-based learning activity in Mary Ryan’s classroom at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently wrapped up with a culminating activity that included a visit from a local bakery owner. Since October, students have been writing journals, researching recipes, and working together to make tasty snacks and create a cookbook of “no bake” treats.

Freezin’ for a Reason! The third Oswego Polar Plunge for Special Olympics New York will take an icy dip into Ontario Lake on March 28 in support of local Special Olympics athletes. More than 300 participants are expected to take the plunge

There is a stray cat who has been hanging around my house for the past several weeks, well OK, I’ve been feeding her, but I can’t really help myself. I have asked all my neighbors, put up flyers in the usual places, checked the lost and found listings to try to find her owners, but no luck with that. So I am thinking I will get her to a vet and let her move in.
Local Poet Drew In The Spotlight
CNY Arts Center will be shining the spotlight on the newly published poet known simply as Drew, on March 29 at 7 p.m. During the event, Drew will read selected poetry from his new book “Loves Me…Not!” and talk about his process of poetry writing.
Budget Presentation on Oswego Board of Education Agenda Monday
Obstacle after obstacle has confronted the Oswego City School District administration as a budget proposal needs to be finalized by late April. On May 19 voters will go to the polls to act upon the proposed budget as well as elect two members to the board of education. Monday at 5 p.m. Oswego Superintendent of Schools Ben Halsey will present up to as many as three scenarios as he prepares the budget.
