The proposed 2016-2017 Oswego school budget of $79,510,611 is the amount of money that the Oswego City School District can afford. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul is no longer an option; Peter has run out of money!! Voting this budget down will not restore any of the cuts involved to reach this budget number.
May 12, 2016, Government Day at the Oswego County Legislature: a day when junior high schoolers come to the legislature to see how government works. Well today they got a lesson in political integrity and political accountability and it didn’t cost them a thing. Most political majors in college pay a minimum of $150 a credit hour.
As the Fulton Board of Education has adopted a budget for the 2016-2017 school year, and it has been presented to the voters of our community for their consideration, I hope that all eligible voters will cast their vote on Tuesday, May 17.
The offices of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County was hopping during spring break week as many youth and volunteers filled the building for the encore presentation of its annual Learn to Sew program, led by 4-H Educator, Mary Matteson.

At 9:40 a.m. today (May 12), a hand written note indicating a bomb threat was located by school employees at Oswego Middle School. The decision to evacuate the school was made all students and staff have been evacuated and are safe. Law Enforcement is currently searching the school.

Lura M. Sharp Elementary School in the Pulaski Academy and Central School District recently held a spring concert, playing a wide variety of classic songs for the standing-room only crowd.
The Scriba Volunteer Fire Department will host a fire safety day on May 21. The fire station is located at 5618 State Route 104 Oswego. The hours will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Fulton Lady Raiders lacrosse team played spoiler on Monday night as they visited rival Oswego and beat the Lady Buccaneers 21-10 on Senior Night.
