Governor Hochul Announces $18 Million Next Generation Buildings Innovation Challenges For Advanced Building Technologies

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced $18 million is available under the Next Generation Buildings Innovation Challenges for projects that offer advanced building technologies for clean heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, building envelopes, and controls. Round seven includes a new challenge area to advance intelligent building control solutions, including the development and commercialization of technologies that manage energy assets and electrical loads that will further enable decarbonization and electrification. This announcement supports New York State’s nation-leading Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 85 percent by 2050.

DEC Updates Oak Wilt Emergency Orders For Ontario And Yates Counties

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced changes to oak wilt emergency orders in Yates and Ontario counties to reflect recent surveys for this invasive fungal disease. Emergency orders establish protective zones and quarantine districts around infections and prohibit the movement of oak and firewood out of the infected areas to help manage the spread of the fungus that causes the disease.

Gillibrand, Schumer Announce Senate Passage Of Amendment To Defense Bill To Deliver Nearly $700 Million To Close Funding Gap In World Trade Center Health Program

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) announced Senate passage of their bipartisan amendment to the FY24 NDAA to close the funding shortfall in the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP). The amendment will help address the long-term funding shortfall by delivering $676 million for the program, and will allow excluded Pentagon and Shanksville responders to join the program.

Sheriff’s Office Proud To Announce Awards And Promotion

On Monday, July 24, 2023, members of Oswego County Sheriff’s Office attended a ceremony to honor and recognize staff for recent accomplishments. Oswego County Sheriff Don Hilton awarded two officers for their bravery in response to a recent incident. He also recognized one additional officer receiving a promotion based on outstanding performance and commitment.
