Fairgrieve Students Battle it Out with Books

Twenty-five students from grades kindergarten through six were recognized during a Morning Express program at the school for exhibiting the virtue of honesty throughout the month of February.
The NYS Senate today (Feb. 25) passed two bills that would cut taxes for farmers. The bills sponsored by Senator Patty Ritchie would continue to help preserve the future of family farming in New York and boost the agriculture economy. Ritchie said,
“From putting fresh food on our tables to generating billions of dollars for New York’s economy and supporting thousands of jobs, the hard work done by family farmers across the state is invaluable to our economy and our future. If we want to continue to see the benefits of their hard work, we need to take steps to support them.”
The “Mr. Pulaski” Contest will be returning to Pulaski Middle-Senior High School on March 10 at 7 p.m. This beauty pageant for males includes competitions in the categories of beach attire, formal wear, talent, and interview.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County was hopping last week as 14 youth and many volunteers filled the office for the annual Learn to Sew program, led by 4-H educator Mary Matteson.

The Sandy Creek High School Drama Department will present a comedic adaptation of the story of Robin Hood entitled “The Legend of Robin Hood…Sort Of” on March 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. at the high school.
Students in the Pulaski Middle School Science Club recently participated in the school’s annual Science Night, an event hosted by science teachers Carl Nylen and Kristen Sheehan-Vautrin.
The third annual Blessings in a Backpack Blast Hunger fundraising event is gearing up to be the best yet. “With a change in menu and venue we are hoping to draw in a bigger crowd,” said Melissa Russell, Blessings in a Backpack program coordinator for Oswego.
“Doing It Our Way” is a program offered through Parents of Special Children, Inc., which provides opportunities for special needs individuals to participate in recreational activities that they may not otherwise be able to join.
