ARC of Oswego County Accepting Nominations for Readling Award

Dr. John J. Readling, shown here in 1955, devoted many years and countless hours to helping people with developmental disabilities, and mental or physical challenges.  Nominations are now being accepted for ARC of Oswego County’s annual award named in his honor.ARC of Oswego County is accepting nominations for the 2011 Dr. John Readling Award, now through April 8. The winner of the award will formally receive the honor at the ARC Annual Dinner on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Oswego Elks Club.

YMCA Preschool Open House to be Held During YMCA Healthy Kids Day

OCB Students Honored at Invitational Art Show

Oswego County BOCES Career and Technical Education students Jacob Isbell, Phoenix, and Emily Terry, Hannibal were honored for their artwork at the Fulton Art Association’s Fifth Annual High School Invitational Art Show. Isbell, center, won an honorable mention ribbon for his oil painting titled Escape. For submissions in the computer graphic art category at the show, Terry received three awards. A second place ribbon for the piece that she is holding, titled The Catfish, and an honorable mention ribbon for two other pieces pictured; Can I Buy You Breakfast? and Fruity Freshness. Pictured above with the two students is Fulton Art Association President Kathy Mihalek.Two Career and Technical Education students from the Computer Programming and Web Design program at Oswego County BOCES were honored by the Fulton Art Association during the Fifth Annual High School Invitational Art Show.

A Show of Love at Granby Elementary

An interactive and fun character building assembly called Show of Love was recently presented to students at Granby Elementary School. The energetic and highly enthusiast host, Joe Trionfero, shared a message of respect, kindness, and responsibility in a fun way that included music and audience participation. His message was closely tied to Granby’s character education program and school-wide expectations and, as pictured above, included an interactive discussion about the golden rule and how to treat others. The show also reinforced anti-bullying strategies and what bystanders can do to put an end to bullying.The energetic and highly enthusiast host, Joe Trionfero, shared a message of respect, kindness, and responsibility in a fun way that included music and audience participation.

Wal-Mart Lends Support To ‘Stone Soup Too’ Luncheon

Employee volunteers from the Wal-Mart Supercenter meet with members of the United Way’s ‘Stone Soup Too’ Luncheon Committee to finalize the details for a food drive. Standing from left are: Resource Development Director for the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Lois Luber; Community Involvement Coordinator, Michele Sherman; Events VAP, Lori Lyons; Community Involvement Coordinator, Angela Blanchard; Volunteer, Jaime Prusinowski; and Coordinator of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Kinship Support Program, Jonathan Gilmore. With plans for the United Way’s Third Annual ‘Stone Soup Too’ Luncheon under way, the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Route 3 in Granby will be lending its support to the event by hosting a food drive on March 19.
