SUNY Oswego Faculty Expert To Lead School Safety Discussion

For Oswego Middle School students who are a part of “The Once Upon A Time” Life Story project with residents at St. Francis Commons, all you need to do is ask! The intergenerational project gave students the opportunity to interview residents about their life history, where many fascinating experiences emerged. Taking part in the project is Harold Ostrow and student Grace Stephens.

Oswego Middle School Students Take A Journey Through History – Via Lives of St. Francis Commons Residents

By interviewing residents, students in the project heard about many interesting life experiences ranging from the time Helen Yonkers had dinner with Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to Carl Knight’s story of a 102-year-old apple that has been in his family for generations. Diana Ostrow shared memories of her days with a Ballet company that performed at the finest theaters in London, to name a few.

It’s our job and the message is simple. Pets HATE it when their people start acting weird and other people, also acting weird, start showing up at the door uninvited.

‘Witches Ball’ To Benefit SAF

“With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month our goal at SAF is to raise awareness of domestic violence in Oswego County and empower community members to take a stand to help bring an end to domestic violence in our communities. When Tammy Elowsky of Zonta suggested the idea of a Halloween themed fundraiser for SAF we were excited about having the ‘Witches Ball’ serve as the culmination of our Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities,” said SAF Community Response Coordinator Stacie France.
