Road Closure Due To Possible Oil Spill In Oswego

UPDATE:  Erie Street is now re-open for vehicular traffic. West Eighth Street between Erie and Niagara streets remains closed.

Erie Street, from West Fifth Street to West Eighth Street, and West Eighth Street between Erie and Niagara streets in the city of Oswego are temporarily closed due to a possible oil spill, according to city police.

Source: Tentative Agreement Avoids Midnight Strike at FitzPatrick

A source in a position to know tells Oswego County Today that a tentative agreement has been reached between Entergy and the union at its FitzPatrick nuclear plant.

There are no details available of the agreement yet, but the deal will prevent a strike by workers when the contract expires tonight.

As part of the tentative deal, the current contract has been extended a week to allow union workers to vote on the agreement.

The union and company are expected to release more details later Friday.

Harborfest Terminates Executive Director

UPDATED with Harborfest’s press release  Oswego Harborfest is looking for a new executive director. The board terminated Tom Van Schaack at its last meeting. He said he was informed that the board was looking to take the festival in a new direction and “reenergize” the festival with the 25th edition of Harborfest coming up next year.
