Oswego School Board Continues Budget Debate

Rising costs for health insurance and pensions are described as ‘a runaway train.’ The district is not sure currently how much state aid it will receive and the amount Nine Mile I and II nuclear plants will pay in taxes for the coming school year. The tentative budget plan will be on the agenda for discussion at next month’s finance committee meeting.

Life-Saving Bus Ride For Oswego Student And Aide

Recently, D.J. Gibson, an Oswego Middle School seventh grader, was choking on candy while riding home on a school bus. Bus aide Lori Lawton responded and was able to dislodge the obstruction in his throat.

It was a normal day that was about to come to an end as seventh grader Dillon “D.J.” Gibson and Oswego City School District bus aide Lori Lawton boarded the bus at Oswego Middle School for the lengthy trip home. The two had no connection other than they were about to cross paths in an unforgettable event.
