IOOB #1647 Supports OCO Breast Cancer Awareness Event With Matching Donation

Roseanne Phillips-Bar Stewart recently coordinated a breast cancer awareness event in support of Oswego County Opportunities’ (OCO) Cancer Services Program of the North Country. The event raised $1,100. IOOB #1647 of Fairdale generously matched that amount and donated an additional $1,100 for a total of $2,200.

National Gas Prices Hold Steady

Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.81, down one cent from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.79. The New York State average is $3.89, down one cent from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $4.01. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

Mayor Barlow Proposes $50 Reduction In Annual City Sewer Bill

Mayor Billy Barlow proposed today a $50 reduction to the sewer bill for City of Oswego flat rate users. The latest $50 reduction would follow a $200 annual reduction in 2019 and a second $100 reduction in 2021. Should the latest proposal pass, flat rate users would see their sewer bill reduced $350 total in the last five years.

Ironworkers Recruit Apprentices

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Ironworkers, Local Union #12, will conduct a recruitment from October 2, 2023 through September 27, 2024 for five Ironworker (Outside) apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.
