Engel Case Adjourned

The case against a Fulton man who was arrested in September in connection with allegations that he videotaped unsuspecting young women in various stages of undress has been adjourned to December. Michael A. Engel, 40, of Hill Top Drive, faces five counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance, class-E felonies; and misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child and forcible touching, among others.

Candidates Strike During Debate

As the campaign trail winds down in the race for the 48th District seat on the New York State Senate, the two candidates vying for the seat have taken off their gloves. Thursday, incumbent Democratic Senator Darrel Aubertine and Republican challenger Dave Renzi met for their fifth debate of the issues. For nearly half of the hour-long debate, Aubertine and Renzi exchanged jabs at one another, rather than discussing issues.

Council To Consider Security Upgrades For Police, Water Departments

The police department is looking to purchase wireless video surveillance equipment. They also want to submit a proposal to the NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services for its “Operation IMPACT Tools” grant. The Water Department wants authorization to accept a State Office of Homeland Security Grant, to update its camera security system.

Water Worries Go Down the Drain

Wednesday afternoon, the city of Fulton received notice that its second day of water samples all came back negative for E. coli bacteria. Meeting the health department’s requirements for two consecutive testing days with clean samples, the city lifted the boil water advisory that had been in place since Saturday. With proof that the water is safe, Fulton officials say they are happy to get back to a normal routine.

Judge Resets Bail In Stoughtenger Case

In light of new charges brought against 20-year-old Andrew J. Stoughtenger in Onondaga County Oct. 14, Oswego County Court Judge Walter Hafner Jr., decided this week that he should pay a $500,000 in cash to be released from Oswego County’s jail relative to an indictment brought against him in July that charges him with 12 counts of second-degree burglary.
