A Neighborhood Watch involves a group of concerned citizens who work together by looking out for one another. The grassroots group has helped reduce and prevent crimes in their neighborhoods, organizers say. An informational meting is set for Oct. 14 to entice more residents to join.
Efrain Rosa of Fulton sexually abused four young boys, made pornographic photos of three of them, and when caught, tried to blame a 12 year old child.
State police in Fulton arrested Harry E. Truax, 53, of 39 Hoyt Rd., Pennellville, Wednesday, charging him with second-degree criminal possession of marihuana, a class-D felony. The investigation evolved following a 911 call that Truax placed Oct. 3.
An Oswego County grand jury has returned an indictment against Jay J. Barboni, the man accused of causing the death of his girlfriend’s 15-month-old son in Fulton. The toddler died Aug. 18 while in Barboni’s care. Barboni will be arraigned Friday on one count of second-degree murder, one count of first-degree manslaughter and one count of second-degree manslaughter.
Erin Maxwell’s step-brother, father, and step-mother remain in jail as a judge refused to lower their bail. Alan Jones was arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with her death. Her father and step-mother are each facing six counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Bryon Patchen had been distraught over a dispute with his ex-girlfriend, police say. He reportedly fired a 12-gauge shotgun into the side of an unoccupied, parked vehicle and fled the scene. No one was injured. He is being held at OCJ.
Salvatore Lanza, the defense attorney for the Maxwell/Jones family, said he was “appalled” that he had to learn of his clients’ arrests through the media Tuesday. Lanza said he plans to address the matter with a judge this morning during Alan Jones’ appearance in Oswego County Court.
Before she died Aug. 30, police say 11-year-old Erin Maxwell lived in difficult conditions at her home on Route 264 with her father, step-mother and step brother. Tuesday morning, police arrested Lindsey and Lynn Maxwell, charging each with six counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Lynn Maxwell’s son, Alan Jones was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly causing Erin’s death.
