County Moves Forward With Capital Project Plans

Spending nearly a million dollars now, the county is working to create a system to recover ferrous metals from the ash at the Energy Recovery Facility. The revenues from that system, coupled with state money, are expected to deliver a break-even point in less than two years and reduce the amount of metals going into the county‘s landfill by approximately 2,000 tons each year.

District Growth Should Have Positive Effect On School Tax Bills, Superintendent Says

Taxpayers in the Fulton school district can expect to see a slightly lower school tax bill in the coming year. Superintendent Bill Lynch explained that the levy of $18,037,851 that was set Tuesday evening represents a 3.43 percent increase from the 2007-08 school year but is expected to result in an average tax rate decrease of 4.92 percent. A recent change in the makeup of the district could translate to a bigger decrease, he said.
