Plath Appointed To Vacant Seat On Fulton BOE

A sudden resignation last month left the Fulton City School District Board of Education grappling with options regarding the vacant seat. After soliciting letters of interest from community members willing to fill the position, five people came forward with interest in the position. After reviewing the interested parties, board vice president Dan Pawlewicz made a motion to appoint Christine Plath to the position at Tuesday’s (Jan 24) regular meeting. The motion was approved with four votes in favor and one abstaining vote from board member Lynn Lyons.

Fulton Board of Education Solicits Letters of Interest For Vacant Seat

Paula Hayden resigned from her position as a board member in December 2017. Since then, the remaining six board members have grappled with how to move forward in handling the vacant seat. They were split in deciding between leaving the seat vacant and appointing a replacement. At Tuesday’s (Jan 9) regular meeting, the six remaining members continued to debate the situation. Ultimately, the board settled at a decision to solicit letters of interest from anyone interested that also fits the necessary criteria. The board will act on an appointment at the next board meeting on Tuesday, Jan 23.

Fulton District Officials Announce 2017 Election Results

The Fulton City School District held a special meeting tonight (May 17) to announce the 2017 election results.

After Fulton voters took to one polling place for the first time, all casting their votes at the Fulton War Memorial on Tuesday, May 16, the votes have been tallied and the results have been determined. Due to a circumstance in which only two candidates ran for three vacant seats on the board of education, district officials were delayed in their announcement after seeking guidance from district attornies, Superintendent Brian Pulvino said.

Write-In Votes to Determine Vacancy on Fulton School Board

With the public hearing complete and the budget newsletter delivered, the final step in the budget process is narrowed down to the public vote for registered voters of the district scheduled for May 16 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For the first time, only one polling location will serve the entire Fulton community. Eligible voters can cast their vote at the Fulton War Memorial, 609 W. Broadway. Voters will see multiple propositions on the ballot in addition to the 2017-18 proposed budget. Three open seats on the FCSD Board of Education will be voted upon. However, only the names of the two nominating petitions received will appear on the ballot in order of how they were drawn.

Fulton Board of Education Petitions Now Available

As of today, (March 6) petitions are available for three open seats on the Fulton City School District Board of Education. The three open terms will commence July 1, 2017 and expire on June 30, 2020. Petitions are available at the office of the Superintendent at the Fulton Education Center located at 167 S. Fourth St. and must be returned to be filed with the district clerk between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. no later than April 26.

Fulton Junior High Principal Resignation Approved

The Fulton City School District Board of Education unanimously accepted the resignation of four district employees including the principal of Fulton Junior High School, Ryan Lanigan. Lanigan’s resignation will become effective October 7, 2016 and school officials are in the beginning stages of the process to finding a replacement.

City residents turned out to their polling places today (May 17) to vote on the Fulton City School District 2016-2017 school budget and numerous other propositions including two open seats on the Board of Education. All propositions passed with a total of 967 voters. Oswego’s budget was also approved and two newcomers will join the school board.

Meet the Candidates: Fulton Board of Education Election 2016

Two seats are up for grabs on the Fulton City School District Board of Education at this year’s budget vote scheduled for Tuesday, May 17. There are three candidates running to fill the two open seats that become available when the current terms of board members Christine Plath and David Carvey expire at the end of this school year. While Christine Plath did not seek reelection, David Carvey is running for reelection along with newcomers Paula Hayden and Lynn Lyons, of which the two candidates with the most votes will each serve a three year term. Oswego County Today asked the candidates a few questions to get some inside information on their campaign, their results will appear in the order that the candidates will appear on the ballot.

Director Of Special Programs Steps Down In Oswego School District

The Oswego City School District is already examining its options regarding finding a replacement for departed business manager Pete Colucci. Now, they have another administrative position to fill. At a brief special meeting Tuesday night, the board of education unanimously accepted the resignation of Amy DiVita as Director of Special Programs.
