Scriba Board Votes To Abolish Elected Highway Superintendent Position

The Scriba Town Board voted Wednesday night to approve a local law to abolish the position of elected town highway superintendent. The town supervisor is now empowered to appoint someone to the position, with confirmation of the town board. Several in the audience bemoaned that condition. Voters will have their say early next February.

Levea Sentenced To 6 – 18 Years For 2009 Fatal Crash

William Levea will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. The 80-year-old Fulton man was sentenced today in Cayuga County Court to 6 to 18 years in prison. He  was initially charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 20, 2009, drunk driving accident that claimed the life of Christopher Spack, 41.

Syracuse Man Arrested in Fulton for DWI Under Leandra’s Law

Fulton Police announced Monday the arrest and ticketing of a man under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk when a child is in the car.

Police allege they stopped Jeffrey J. Bryant’s car for going 41 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone on the Broadway bridge.  In the car with him were an adult woman and a three month old child. […]

New Law Cracks Down on DWI Offenders

New York recently took another important step toward tougher penalties for DWI offenders. Leandra’s Law was signed by the Governor last week. Leandra’s Law makes driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol with a child a felony.
