UPDATE: The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has identified the second victim of an assault/homicide case in West Monroe on September 10. The second victim of the assault is 59-year-old Michael Shane of 451 County Route 11, West Monroe. Oswego County Undersheriff Eugene Sullivan said Matthew R. LeBoeuf, 33, charged with mudering Robert Diffin, 42, and leaving a second victim in critical condition did know the victims. UPDATED: Oswego County Court Judge Walter Hafner has postponed the sentencing of Joyce Malone until next month. Malone, who was convicted Jan. 24 in the shooting death of her husband, appeared in court today (March 7) with her attorney, James Eby. The defense attorney explained that his client is undergoing treatment for an inoperable cancer. An interruption in the treatments now, he said, “would be life-threatening.”
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Oakes wrapped up his case against Joyce Malone on Wednesday. The defense will continue calling witnesses on Thursday. Malone is accused of killing her husband last March in their Oswego Town home. The trial is likely to last through early next week.
Two people are dead after police say a man held them hostage, shot them, and kept police away for seven hours. The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department confirms that James H. Steen, 39, of Hastings, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
