A simple rock, assuming we may walk past hundreds in a day, may not typically have the capability to bring a smile to our face. However, the Facebook group “Fulton NY Rocks” has taken aim to change that entirely. Stumbling upon a once simple, meaningless rock has taken new meaning since the more than 4,000 members of the group began using such rocks to promote kindness and positivity. Thousands of rocks, hand painted and designed with artistic imagery, uplifting messages, or positive phrases are being found all over the city with a simple message on the back: “If found, please post a picture to Fulton NY Rocks, then keep or re-hide!”

Oswego Town Highway Superintendent David Sterio has announced that paving work in the town of Oswego has been completed for the season. Furniss Station Road and Regan Drive have been re-surfaced using a “Micro-Pave” instead of the more common #7 asphalt.

As part of Exelon Corporation’s moral standard, a large focus looms on local community involvement and promoting employee volunteerism. That’s why Exelon volunteers from local nuclear energy plants were found at Fort Ontario, revamping the local youth baseball fields. “They’ve been here sprucing up the dugouts, making their presence known in the community,” said plant manager, Rob Kreider. The volunteers, a first line supervisor peer group, decided among themselves that one way to promote teamwork and networking outside of the plant was to volunteer at community service projects together.
