SUNY Chancellor King Announces Registration Is Open For Direct Support Microcredentials

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King, Jr. today announced the start of the direct support microcredential program approved earlier this year to provide training that leads to national certification in the field of developmental disabilities. The program was developed in partnership with the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to recognize the distinct skills and competencies required of today’s direct support professionals.

In case you missed it, the New York Times published an article regarding President Biden’s executive order implementing historic military justice reforms passed in the FY22 and FY23 National Defense Authorization Acts. For nearly a decade, Gillibrand fought alongside survivors, veterans and legal experts to make these fundamental changes, which remove judicial functions and prosecutorial duties from commanders for certain serious offenses and give these powers to trained, professional military prosecutors independent of the chain of command.
