The department will host an informational meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. June 6, at the DSS office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. All children available for adoption through DSS have been in foster care for a period of time.

Among the students who received offers of appointment is Trey LaRock of G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton, United States Air Force Academy – Colorado Springs, Colo.

The conference will be held at Colgate University from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is produced for professionals in the cultural heritage tourism industry, as well as businesses, private sector organizations and individuals who would like to become active participants in their community’s growth and rehabilitation.

“I applaud Governor Cuomo for providing relief funds to help municipalities recover from these devastating floods along Lake Ontario. These funds will specifically help repair roads, flood walls, culverts and sidewalks,” he said.

For many of the thousands of visitors to Oswego’s beautiful waterfront, the annual occurrence of Harborfest in July is the highlight of the summer, if not the year. As the free-admission live music festival enters its 30th anniversary, it calls upon local businesses, individuals and families to consider donating what they can to help continue the tradition.

All Oswego County government offices, including the solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers, will be closed May 29.

Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego enjoyed a USO themed Happy Hour as part of Morningstar’s National Nursing Home Week “Spirit of America” celebration.

The Fulton Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. May 29, in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The ceremony will continue to Mount Adnah Cemetery and the Fulton War Memorial, ending in Veterans’ Park.
